Over the Winter Holidays in 2015, we made our annual pilgrimage to our friends in Saugerties. The holidays were a lot of fun with our usual cooking, drinking and just relaxing in the country. But on the final day of our trip, a conversation ensued that would send us on a new path.
Ron and I were taking Annabelle for a walk and a conversation came up about the house next door. Apparently the owner recently moved out and the house was currently unoccupied with a potential new owner buying the house. It was built in 1955, renovated some time around 1970 and had only the one owner – ever. When I inquired about the price, it was almost too good to be true; but since it was never listed and there was already a buyer, it was hard to know for sure.
Either way, it had piqued my interest enough that when we returned from our walk I said, “Hey, Tracy! Do you want to buy the house next door?” She thought I was kidding.
Today we closed on the purchase of that house. And since walking Annabelle lead to this decision, we’ve named the house “Belleview” to immortalize this decision. Tracy wanted to use “Bellevue” as a nod to this totally crazy decision, but we ultimately opted to just weave our insanity into our storytelling of the house instead.
This blog will document our journey.
