After a bitter and drawn out winter that hasn’t allowed me any time at the house to work on projects, both the weather and my calendar are getting more favorable. Here are my top projects for the spring and early summer:
- New toilet (the existing one cracked and is no longer useful)
- Trench for electrical lines and a water line to the shed
- Tie-in electrical for the shed
- Lighting, outlets, and A/C for the shed (so I can start using it as my “Tiny Home” when working on the house)
- Exterior framing and flooring for SE corner of the house
- New concrete foundation for the entire back of the house
Those last two are a big deal and I may be working with a contractor on this. The new framing will allow us to expand the back bedroom into a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom. That sounds luxurious, and in a sense it will be, but it will still be VERY small and the new bathroom will be about 6′ x 3′ – what Tracy has been calling a “galley bathroom.”
The foundation is a needed improvement that will assure the bones of the house continue to live a long life, will level the floor in the back portion of the house, and will enclose the crawl space for better heating/cooling of the house as well as better “critter control.”
Updates to follow as this all progresses!
